Hello world!

Welcome to STOPDOT!

This site is dedicated to stopping the New York State Department of Transportation from breaking the law, ruining a nature preserve, making children sick, poisoning our air, contaminating our water and spending our money on a foolish and reckless project at a site that is off-limits to development, according to a 1987 statute (Chapter 635, Section 7), which the Commissioner of the Office of General Services and the Governor of New York, The Honorable David Paterson continues to disregard.

The blog is being created to inform, educate, enlighten, engage and otherwise involve Long Islanders, especially those who live in the Brentwood, North Bayshore, Dix Hills, Deer Park, and Commack communities, about the impending health crisis and environmental disaster that will befall Western Suffolk County, if a proposed mega-intermodal facility is built on surplus Pilgrim State Hospital land.

We will soon be adding lots of information that should make you really angry if you live in one of the communities mentioned above.  We hope you will want to do your part to STOP to the DOT!

Please tell others about this blog — pass the word!  There is power in numbers.  They may have the power and the money but we have the ballot box, and we must never let them forget that it is we who give them power and we who can take it away.
